The word diet can be intimidating but remember that the dictionary definition of the word diet is, a food or drink regularly provided or consumed. So you could have a low sodium diet, a vegetarian diet, and Eddie Murphy ate toys as a child so he technically had a toy diet.Ha! jkn jkn
In my next blog series I am going to research, explore, and try today's most popular diets. For the last 6 months I have been on the blood type diet and honestly, I feel amazing. My hair and nails have never grown this fast in my life, I am sleeping deeper, and never feel bloated after a meal.
The blood type diet was created by naturopath Dr. Peter J. D'Adamo, a naturopathic physician, author, and researcher-educator. He is considered a world expert in glycobiology, principally the ABO (ABH) blood groups and the secretor (FUT2) polymorphisms. His research indicates that your blood type is a key genetic factor that influences many areas of health and well-being. His NYTimes best selling book, Eat Right for your Type, focuses on five factors about blood type.
1. Your blood type may predict your susceptibility for certain diseases.
2. People of different blood types react differently to stress.
3. Your blood type antigens are not just in your blood.
4. Gut bacteria is related to blood type.
5. A one-size-fits-all approach to nutrition does not work.
Blood Type Food Lists:
Type O blood: A high-protein diet heavy on lean meat, poultry, fish, and vegetables, and light on grains, beans, and dairy.
Type A blood: A meat-free diet based on fruits and vegetables, beans and legumes, and whole grains -- ideally, organic and fresh, because D'Adamo says people with type A blood have a sensitive immune system.
Type B blood: Avoid corn, wheat, buckwheat, lentils, tomatoes, peanuts, and sesame seeds. Chicken is also problematic, D'Adamo says. He encourages eating green vegetables, eggs, certain meats, and low-fat dairy.
Type AB blood: Foods to focus on include tofu, seafood, dairy, and green vegetables. He says people with type AB blood tend to have low stomach acid. Avoid caffeine, alcohol, and smoked or cured meats.
